Kept by Krungsri: Digital Savings App and Account Guide

Kept by Krungsri is Bank of Ayudhya's app for separating everyday spending, saving towards goals and investing. It combines a main Kept account with Grow, Fun, Together, Happy tax free and Kept Invest.

Foreign residents should check eligibility first: Kept currently requires Thai nationality and applicants aged 15–70. A DTV, work permit or ordinary Krungsri account does not replace that nationality requirement.

What is Kept by Krungsri?

Kept is a financial service provided by Bank of Ayudhya Public Company Limited, the Thai bank known as Krungsri. It is neither a separate licensed bank nor a standalone e-money wallet.

The app organises money into a spending account and purpose-specific savings jars. Its main attraction is automation: keeping a spending allowance available, moving surplus cash into savings and making small, regular contributions.

Kept Invest adds mutual funds, which have different risks from deposits. The service therefore brings several products into one app without making them interchangeable.

Can foreigners, DTV holders or foreign workers open Kept?

Kept's September 2026 product disclosure restricts applications to Thai nationals. This excludes an applicant who holds only foreign nationality, even if they live in Thailand permanently or already bank with Krungsri.

Our reading of that explicit nationality rule is that DTV, employment, a Thai work permit, BOI-related status or investment in a Thai company does not remove it.

These circumstances may matter when applying for other accounts, but they are not alternatives to Thai nationality for Kept.

A Thai dual national must still meet the Thai identification and other onboarding requirements. An international household should also distinguish the Thai partner's own account from money legally owned by the other partner.

Kept savings: the spending account

The main Kept account receives money and handles outgoing transfers and QR payments. You choose a balance to keep available for spending; eligible surplus can move to Grow the following day.

The published Kept savings rate is 0.10% a year, with interest paid on 28 June and 28 December. The bank advertises the account's transfers and QR spending without transaction fees.

Think of this as the operating balance for the app, rather than its highest-interest savings product. Compare the full fee schedule before using services outside those advertised transfers.

Grow savings: automatic surplus saving

Grow takes money beyond the allowance you set in the spending wallet. You can also transfer manually, with a minimum of THB 1,000 per deposit, which Kept calls a slip.

For new deposits from 5 June 2026, the published annual rate is 1.25% in months 1–18 and 1.35% in months 19–24. The advertised average over that period is 1.275% a year, not 1.35% throughout.

Interest is calculated daily and paid to the Kept wallet on the 28th of each month. The current maximum Grow balance for new deposits is THB 2 million; earlier deposits can have different applicable terms.

Grow permits withdrawals, including partial withdrawals. If automatic money-out is enabled, the app can top up the spending wallet from the most recent slip first; you can turn this off or enable an alert before using savings.

Fun savings: small amounts saved automatically

Fun offers Auto Grab, which saves alongside qualifying outgoing transfers or QR spending. You can choose a fixed amount, a percentage or a rounding rule.

Regular Save schedules contributions daily, weekly or monthly. Money can be transferred back to the Kept wallet when needed.

The standard annual rate is 0.10%.

Completing at least ten qualifying Auto Grab events in a month gives a total annualised rate of 1.00% for the following month, subject to the bank's terms; Regular Save events do not count towards the ten.

The 1.00% is an annual rate applied for the eligible month, not a 1% monthly return. For budgeting, a scheduled contribution is easier to predict than saving an amount linked to how often you spend.

Together savings: shared goals, one owner

Together lets a customer separate goals into up to ten jars and invite other Kept users to view progress and contribute. A holiday, wedding or household project are possible uses.

The product currently advertises 0.50% annual interest, calculated daily and paid monthly. Each jar can have up to 60 invited participants under the current disclosure.

Together is not a joint account. The creator remains the sole account owner and controls withdrawals; invited participants do not acquire a joint withdrawal right by contributing.

Before pooling money, agree who owns each contribution and how withdrawals will be authorised between you.

This distinction is especially relevant to couples with different nationalities, because a foreign partner cannot bypass Kept eligibility by using the invitation feature.

Happy tax free: monthly deposits over a fixed term

Happy tax free is an electronic fixed-deposit product requiring equal monthly contributions. The published choices are 24 months at 1.80% a year, depositing THB 500–25,000 monthly, or 36 months at 1.50%, depositing THB 500–16,500 monthly.

The product limits customers to one qualifying tax-free account across all banks. Thai withholding-tax exemption depends on meeting Revenue Department and account conditions; the name does not promise exemption from every country's taxes.

Check missed-payment and early-closure terms before choosing a commitment.

The rate applicable to each instalment follows the bank's announcement when that instalment is deposited, so the displayed rate should not be read as a guaranteed unchanged rate for all future contributions.

Access before maturity

Partial withdrawals are not available; taking the money out requires closing the account. The disclosure permits up to two missed monthly contributions, while a third causes closure.

Closure before three months earns no interest. From three months onwards, early closure or a breach of the conditions receives the disclosure's reduced 0.25% annual rate for the actual deposit period, with withholding tax.

Kept Invest: mutual funds are different from savings

Kept Invest provides access to mutual funds within the same app. The investment area includes choices from several fund managers and approaches with different risk levels and objectives.

Investment-account opening has its own checks and authorisations. Do not assume that qualifying for the Kept wallet automatically qualifies someone for every investment product.

Fund units can fall in value and are not a fixed-interest deposit. Review each fund's factsheet, charges, asset allocation, currency exposure and redemption timetable before committing money.

Our practical distinction is between cash you need available at a known time and investments whose value may be lower when you need to sell. An app's convenient layout does not remove that difference.

Current interest rates compared

These are advertised annual rates checked on 16 September 2026. They are not guaranteed future offers, and bonus rates, deposit dates, holding periods and account conditions change the actual return.

How to register and verify identity

Eligible applicants need a readable Thai Smart ID card, a mobile number and an email address. You do not have to hold a conventional Krungsri account first.

Kept lists registration hours of 06:00–22:00 daily. Identity verification is through supported NDID arrangements or Krungsri i-CONFIRM; check which route the app offers for your circumstances.

  • Start from the official Kept website and follow its App Store or Google Play link.
  • Register your contact details, complete OTP verification and enter your personal information.
  • Complete the identity checks: NDID requires the relevant existing registration with a participating bank.
  • For i-CONFIRM, use the app's QR code at a supported Krungsri, Ngern Tid Lor or 7-Eleven Counter Service location.
  • Return to the app to finish opening the account, fund it and choose the savings features you need.

Transfers, access and practical limitations

For an incoming Thai bank transfer, Kept instructs users to choose Krungsri as the receiving bank and use the ten-digit Kept account number. The main wallet handles external transfers; Grow and Fun send money back through your own Kept wallet.

The current Kept disclosure lists no account-maintenance fee and no minimum opening deposit. It describes electronic domestic transactions and does not accept cash deposits.

Do not assume that each jar behaves like a separate everyday current account.

Decide whether you need debit-card cash access, incoming overseas transfers or business payment controls, and ask Krungsri about the exact service rather than inferring it from the app's name.

The app instructions also describe electronic statements, including Thai or English versions sent to a verified email address. Keep records of transfers, savings interest and ownership when managing household finances across countries.

Deposit protection and account security

Kept deposits are held with Bank of Ayudhya, not with a second bank called Kept. Thailand's Deposit Protection Agency generally protects qualifying Thai-baht deposits up to THB 1 million per depositor per financial institution.

Eligible deposits across Kept and other Bank of Ayudhya accounts therefore share the institution-level limit. Opening more jars does not multiply the cover, and mutual-fund investments are outside deposit protection.

Use the official app links and never disclose a PIN or OTP to someone offering account-opening help. If money goes missing or access is blocked, contact the bank through independently checked channels rather than a number supplied in an unsolicited message.

Who is Kept suited to, and what should foreigners compare?

Our assessment is that Kept is most relevant to an eligible Thai saver who wants automatic rules and visible goals. Compare the rate after any conditions, the effort needed to maintain a bonus and how quickly you can recover money.

For foreign nationals, start with the standard Krungsri profile and the account-opening guide below. Compare the named product's rules for your visa, employment, residential address and source of funds before arranging a branch visit.

For a company, apply for banking in the correct legal entity's name. A personal savings jar should not be treated as a corporate account or as shared business ownership simply because several people can see it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Kept by Krungsri a separate bank?

No. Bank of Ayudhya, known as Krungsri, provides Kept; the app groups deposit and investment products in one place.

Can a foreigner with a DTV or Thai work permit open Kept?

Not under the published Thai-nationality requirement. A visa or work permit does not substitute for nationality, even if it supports an application for a different Thai account.

Is Together a joint bank account?

No. Only its owner controls withdrawals; invitations give other eligible Kept users visibility and the ability to contribute, not joint account ownership.

Does Grow pay 1.35% throughout the deposit period?

No. For new deposits from 5 June 2026, the published schedule is 1.25% annually for months 1–18 and 1.35% for months 19–24, averaging 1.275% a year over that period.

Do I need a normal Krungsri account first?

No existing conventional Krungsri account is required. You must still satisfy Kept's own nationality, age and identity requirements.

Does each Kept jar get its own deposit-protection limit?

No. Qualifying deposits are aggregated per depositor at Bank of Ayudhya; Kept jars do not create separate banking institutions.
